Worthy Man was our favorite (in our opinion the best walking bull) at the 2011 Ohlde Cattle Co Bull Sale in Marysville, Kansas. He had all the phenotypic traits we look for in an Angus bull: Masculinity (Good cresty neck, greasy nuts), Thickness (natural muscle expression and not just lots of high energy feed), a long spine, and also had very good production records too: 75 lb BW, weaning index of 102, and yearling index of 106.
-
We were able to see Worthy Man's sire, OCC Sentinel 714S a few years earlier on the OCC West Ranch where he was breeding a group of 90 heifers! Tim Ohlde really liked this bull, as he was a good looking bull that performed well and came from the outcross OCC Focus 813F line of cattle.
-
This is also one of the reasons we liked Worthy Man, as we are accumulating a lot of D H D Traveler 6807 offspring through the likes of OCC Emblazon, OCC Echelon, OCC Legacy, and OCC Missing Link, and the OCC Sentinel-sired Worthy Man 967W bull is a fresh bloodline that still enables us to mate like and to like cattleŚ
-
Worthy Man also has some really great females in his pedigree, including 960E, the dam of Legacy (and Hunter), and 872K, an OCC Embryo Donor Dam.
-
Worthy Man has been visually appreciated by Todd Churchill of Thousand Hills Cattle Co, and other discerning cattlemen who appreciate his thickness, ease of fleshing, and incredible natural muscle expression.
-
Worthy Man 967W is so easy-fleshing that we need to be careful winter feeding him that he doesn't get obese on forages alone!
-
O C C Sentinel 714S sons were the high-averaging sire group at 2011 OCC sale.
-
967W's own birth weight was 75 lbs.
